CT is on the road to recovery. After a long 36 hours of misery, we finally took him into ready care yesterday and were told he has croup. I suspected this, but since he's never been sick before (you read that right) and I'm new at this parenting thing, I wasn't certain that's what it was. On Tuesday he woke up hoarse and by the end of the day he had developed a bad cough. We all slept terrible that night. His fever would come and go, but never went higher than 102 degrees. We should have taken him in that night, but we hesitated because we've all been sick and thought he needed to work through it.
It turns out there is little the doctor can do for croup. It is a viral infection of the vocal box, so antibiotics aren't given. We were prescribed a steroid to help heal his vocal cords. It is suggested that we let him breathe the cold air outside or take him into a steaming bathroom. And here we'd been extra careful while outside all week because we thought it was just a cold. Live and learn.
He slept incredibly well last night. Christos had to wake him up to eat this morning and then he went back to bed for another 2 hours. That's 12.5 hours total. It shows too. He looks MUCH better. I hope we are all on the mend so we can enjoy each other this weekend.

Snowy Sick Monday
We've been really lucky the past 7 1/2 months. We haven't had to deal much with illness in this household. I was just saying to myself this very thing last week. I jinxed it. Over the weekend we all fell ill with a cold. CT first started to feel crappy on Saturday morning and by the afternoon he was running a fever and becoming congested. We weren't sure if it was related to the flu boosters he got on Thursday or perhaps if he was finally teething, alas it seems to be a cold. By Sunday morning we were all sick. It was a long day and a short night.
I'm home with CT today in hopes that we can avoid the cold, wet weather and cure ourselves with some love and hugs. He's eating well and the mucous is starting to pass. His fever has been at bay since last night. Here's to hoping this will move through our systems quickly so we can all get on with our week.
This is what sick looks like in our house.
And this...
Our Baby.Bjorn has been a saving grace. CT loves snuggling up to Papa and he sleeps really well in it. They were like this for a long time yesterday.
